FUKUSHIMA (TR) – A 27-year-old bar owner in Koriyama City has been indicted on suspicion of murdering his younger sister, reports Nippon News Network (Oct. 7).
Satoshi Kataoka was initially taken into custody in August on suspicion of corpse abandonment after the body of his 23-year-old sister, Yuri Konnai, was discovered left inside his residence.
According to the indictment, on the night of August 27, Kataoka allegedly strangled Konnai to death using the strap of a shoulder bag inside a car parked in the city.
Subsequent investigations revealed that Konnai’s cause of death was asphyxiation due to neck compression. Police suspect Kataoka strangled her by some means.
Prosecutors have not disclosed whether he has admitted to the charges.
Following the incident, Kataoka contacted the police and turned himself in.
