Ehime man sought after elderly father dies in stabbing incident

EHIME (TR) – Ehime Prefectural Police are hunting for a man after his father was found stabbed at the residence they shared in Imabari City. The father later died, reports Nippon News Network (Apr. 2).

“My father is spitting up blood and not breathing,” a caller said to emergency services at around 7:30 p.m. on Wednesday.

The caller was the eldest son of 71-year-old Yukinori Takeda. According to police, Takeda was found collapsed and unconscious in his home. Bleeding from his upper body, he was later confirmed dead.

Based on the condition of the body, the weapon used in the crime is believed to have been a knife. Police are now investigating the possibility of murder.

Police are also seeking the whereabouts of the Takeda’s third son, 42, believing he may have some knowledge of the circumstances that led to the incident.

The scene is a residential area about 3 kilometers east of JR Iyo-Tomita Station.
