SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police believe that a duo on a motorcycle is behind six bag-snatching incidents in the prefecture early Saturday, reports Fuji News Network (July 27).
At around 3 a.m., the two men on the motorcycle approached a third man on a bicycle from behind in Nishikawaguchi, Kawaguchi City and snatched his backpack from the front basket. They then fled.
About 10 minutes later, a 38-year-old woman in Kitamachi, Warabi City, had her handbag containing cash snatched by a pair of thieves using the same method. The incident took place three kilometers from the Nishikawaguchi case.
Two similar bag-snatching thefts occurred in Soka City at around 4 a.m. An hour later, two other incidents occurred in Kawaguchi City.
The six incidents occurred within the area of a circle with a radius of about six kilometers. Police are searching for the whereabouts of the two men who fled, suspecting that they were behind all of the thefts.
