Corpses of teen girl, man found in Saitama hotel along with over-the-counter drugs

SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police on Thursday launched an investigation after the discovery of a high school girl and a 20-year-old man collapsed in a hotel room in Niiza City.

Both persons were later confirmed dead. As well, police found a large quantity of over-the-counter drugs in the room, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 23).

Around 7:30 a.m., police officers found the 17-year-old high school girl and the 20-year-old man, both residents of Asaka City, collapsed in a room of the hotel in Nobitome. They were pronounced dead at the scene.

According to police, the two were believed to be acquaintances. Both had been reported missing by their families, which prompted police to search for them.

Upon the arrival of police, the room was locked. As well, there were no signs of a struggle or noticeable external injuries on the bodies.

Furthermore, a large number of empty over-the-counter medication boxes were found in the room.

Police are investigating the causes of death and the circumstances that led to the incident.
