Corpses likely of couple, son found in Nara home

NARA (TR) – Nara Prefectural Police launched an investigation after the discovery of three corpses likely belonging to members of a family at their house in Yamatotakada City last week, reports NHK (June 24).

At around 11:00 a.m. on June 24, a police officer working off a tip visited the house in Ichiba and found the three people dead inside.

The bodies likely belong to a couple in their 80s and their son in his 60s, police said.

The couple were lying side by side on the floor of the living room on the first floor. The man believed to be the son was crouched in the bathroom, still wearing his clothes.

None of the three bodies had any visible external injuries.

Police visited the house that morning after receiving a call from relatives of the three people asking them to check on their safety.

Upon entry, the front door was locked. As well, there were no signs of a struggle inside the house.

Police are currently investigating the circumstances that led to the deaths of the persons.

The home is in a residential area about one kilometer from Shakudo Station on the Kintetsu Minami-Osaka Line.
