OITA (TR) – Oita Prefectural Police launched an investigation after a man found collapsed in a river in Oita City on Saturday later died.
Because he had a wound on his neck, police are investigating the possibility of foul play, reports Nippon News Network (Mar. 20).
Shortly before 7:00 a.m., a passerby called police. “A person is floating in the river,” the caller said in referring to the Kanda River.
The man was found in a shallow part of the river and was transported to a hospital in the city unconscious. However, he was later pronounced dead, police said.
The deceased man had a laceration-like wound to the neck. In addition to identifying him, police are investigating the case as possibly the result of foul play.
