TOKYO (TR) – Following the discovery of the corpses of a woman and her three children at their home in Nishitokyo City last week, police have announced that a fifth body has been found in a separate residence she was renting.
At around 7:15 p.m. on Monday, police found the body of Shintaro Nakakubo, 27, inside a taped-off bedroom closet of an apartment in Nerima Ward.
According to police, the body had suffered stab wounds and cuts in over a dozen places, including to the abdomen.
The body was in an advanced state of decomposition, suggesting that more than a few days had passed since his death.
Upon arrival of police, the apartment was locked. The lease was signed in March. The man is believed to have been living there.
The husband of the woman, aged in his 40s, found her and their sons , the woman, 36, and her three sons — aged 16, 11 and 9 — were found collapsed at their home in Kitamachi, Nishitokyo at around 5:45 p.m. on December 19. by her husband.
Police are treating the latter case as a possible murder-suicide.
Police said Nakakubo was an acquaintance of the woman.
Police are currently investigating the circumstances of the man’s death. They are also searching for a connection between his death and that of the woman and her children.
