TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 25-year-old corporate badminton player on suspicion of committing indecent acts against a young woman on a street in the capital, reports TV Asahi (June 10).
Ryo Fujisawa, a player for the JR East Morioka badminton team, is accused of targeting a woman in her 20s whom he did not know in Tachikawa City this past February.
According to police, Fujisawa had traveled from Morioka to Tokyo to compete in a badminton tournament. Following a match, he allegedly approached the victim as she was walking home.

Investigators say Fujisawa relentlessly followed the woman for approximately 600 meters, repeatedly hugging and kissing her while propositioning her with the phrase, “Let’s go drinking.”
The victim told police that she could strongly smell alcohol on her attacker.
During police questioning, Fujisawa denied the allegations. He said, “I don’t remember.” However, he seemingly left the door open to his guilt, reportedly telling investigators, “I drank every night while I was staying in Tokyo, so I can’t say there is no possibility that I did it.”
When approached by reporters, a representative from the JR East Morioka branch stated, “We are currently investigating the matter and will refrain from commenting at this time.”
