TOKYO (TR) – A recent Miss Japan pageant winner has expressed her deep gratitude to two quick-thinking commuters who apprehended a man secretly filming her on a train in the capital.
Minami Yasui, who was crowned Miss Japan “Water Angel” for 2024, took to X on October 8 to recount the frightening incident, which occurred while she was riding the Saikyo Line — a commuter route notoriously plagued by gropers and voyeurs.
Unbeknownst to Yasui, an older male passenger sitting across from her was taking tosatsu (voyeur) footage of her. Fortunately, a male and a female office worker nearby spotted the illicit photography. The pair immediately confronted the suspect on the spot and forced him to delete the data from his device.

According to Yasui, she remained completely oblivious to the crime until the train pulled into a station.
It was then that the male bystander approached her. “You were just being secretly filmed,” the man told her. “We made him delete all the data, and we are going to take him to the station office right now.”
Upon hearing the news, Yasui said she was thrown into a sudden panic, bewildered by the rapid chain of events.
Looking back on the incident, the TV talent admitted she was too stunned to process the situation at the time.
“I regret that I couldn’t do anything in the spur of the moment, but more than that, I am so incredibly happy that there are such wonderful people out there,” Yasui wrote.
Lamenting that she was too shocked to give the pair a proper send-off, she used her social media platform to send a final message to her rescuers: “My one regret is that I couldn’t properly convey my gratitude. I hope this post reaches the two of you! Thank you so, so much!”
