CHIBA (TR) – A 32-year-old woman in custody in connection with the stabbing death of her boyfriend in a love hotel in Funabashi City last month has been further accused of murder, police said, reports the Asahi Shimbun (Oct. 28).
Between approximately 4:35 a.m. and 8:15 a.m. on October 5, Mami Asaka allegedly stabbed her boyfriend, 21-year-old Chantal Badal, to death with a kitchen knife at a love hotel in Funabashi City.
On October 28, police accused Asaka of murder. She has declined to comment on the allegations, police said.
Covered in blood
After the incident, Asaka, who lives in Chiba City, called police herself from the hotel room.
When emergency personnel arrived, they found Badal lying face down near the front door, covered in blood, with Asaka also inside the room.
That same day, police first accused Asaka of theft. She allegedly stole two knives from a retailer in Chiba City two days before. The knives are believed to have been used in the incident.
At the time, Asaka said, “I wanted to die with my boyfriend, and since I was going to die anyway, I might as well steal.” She has remained silent during subsequent questioning.
Badal lived in Narashino City where he was a student. Police believe there was some kind of trouble at the hotel and are investigating the circumstances that led to the murder.
