CHIBA (TR) – Police here have arrested a 65-year-old renowned tennis coach on suspicion of sexually assaulting a female acquaintance, reports Fuji News Network (May 17).
Toru Matsushima, an instructor at a tennis school in the town of Shirako, is accused of sexually assaulting a female company employee at his residence on the night of May 8.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse, Matsushima said, “There is no mistake that we engaged in sexual intercourse, but it is not true that I invited her and forced her into it.”
Matsushima is a high-profile figure in the sport, widely known as an elite instructor who has trained numerous top-tier athletes competing in international world tournaments.
Police are investigating the relationship between the two and the circumstances surrounding the incident in detail.
