TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested four men, including a 24-year-old man from Chiba Prefecture, for allegedly attempting to extort cash from a middle school boy by threatening him, reports TBS News (Feb. 25).
Last November, Yuaki Mogi, who lives in Funabashi City, Chiba, and three other male suspects allegedly kicked the 13-year-old boy in the face and stomach on a pier in Minato Ward in November last year.
They also threatened him. “Your shoes are stained with blood, so pay me 150,000 yen. I’ll kill you and drown you in the sea,” one of them said in an attempt to extort cash.
Mogi and one other suspect deny the allegations. However, a 17-year-old boy and the fourth suspect admit to the charges.
According to police, on the day of the incident, the victim was having dinner with a girl who was the girlfriend of the arrested 17-year-old boy.
After an argument arose, the girl contacted Mogi and the other suspects, which led to the incident.
The male junior high school student said, “I was hung upside down by both of my legs and almost dropped into the sea.” The boy suffered serious injuries, including a broken nose and front teeth.
