Chiba executive arrested over sexual assault of teen girl

CHIBA (TR) — Police here have arrested a 34-year-old self-proclaimed company executive on suspicion of sexually assaulting a teenage girl at an apartment, reports TV Asahi (May 8).

Makoto Takayanagi is accused of sexually assaulting the victim, who is in her teens, at an acquaintance’s apartment in August of last year.

According to police, the suspect and the victim originally met through a mutual acquaintance. The crime came to light after the girl came forward and filed a criminal complaint with the authorities.

During police questioning, Takayanagi admitted to the allegations, specifically acknowledging that he was aware of the victim’s age.

“At the time, I knew the victim was a minor under the age of 18 because I heard it from her directly,” Takayanagi was quoted as saying.
