TOKYO (TR) – Following an incident in which a male taxi driver was threatened by a passenger with a metal rod, Tokyo Metropolitan Police are seeking the help of the public in locating the man suspected in the crime, reports TBS News (Nov. 22).
On Tuesday, police released dashboard camera footage showing the man who demanded money from the driver, 68, on a road in Arakawa Ward on October 12.
“Given me your wallet,” the man can be heard saying from the passenger seat. “I don’t have a wallet,” the driver responded.
At one point, the man thrust a metal rod at the driver, police said. The man later fled the scene without paying the 1,090-yen fare.
The driver was not injured in the incident.
In the clip, the man is seen wearing a white and blue hunting cap. Standing approximately 160 centimeters in height, he is believed to be in his 60s.
