TOKYO (TR) – Two teenage boys and a girl have been accused of blackmailing a man after luring him out via a dating application in Koganei City, reports Nikkan Sports (Mar. 15).
On the night of January 23, the two boys, both 19, and a girl, 16, allegedly impersonated a woman on dating app Gyaruru in robbing the victim, a 22-year-old employee in the construction industry, out of about 69,000 yen at restaurant parking lot in January.
The trio has admitted to the charges, telling police they “wanted money to play around.”
In carrying out the theft, the victim met the girl at the restaurant. She then lured him out to the parking lot where he was accosted by the other suspects. “What’re you doing with someone else’s woman,” they threatened him. “Do you even know her age?”
On another day, the suspects also impersonated a woman on the dating app to lure out a male victim. They called the practice “social-networking service hunt,” police said.
