TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have launched a murder investigation after the killing of a 25-year-old man inside his residence in Tama City, reports the Yomiuri Shimbun (Feb. 28).

On Saturday evening, police found the body of Kohei Fukuyoshi collapsed inside the entrance of the apartment, located on the fourth floor of a building in the Nagayama area.

Fukuyoshi’s body had stab wounds in more than 10 locations, including the face and abdomen. He was confirmed dead after being transported to a nearby hospital.

The results of an autopsy revealed the cause of death to be loss of blood. A murder weapon has not been found.

At approximately 9:00 p.m., emergency services received a call about trouble taking place inside Fukuyoshi’s apartment.

A 63-year-old male living in the same building observed a young man in dark work clothes exiting the apartment. He then slipped and fell in attempting to jump from a fourth floor corridor to a neighboring building. In landing on the first floor, he appeared to suffer significant bone fractures but was able to escape.

Police are searching for the young man, who is described as being in his 20s and measuring approximately 170 centimeters in height.
