TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested a 79-year-old man for allegedly abandoning a body believed to be that of his female roommate inside the residence they share in Suginami Ward, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 23).
On February 22, officers from the Ogikubo Police Station found the body of the woman, believed to be in her 80s, lying atop a bed in the residence, located in the Kamiogi area.
Police subsequently arrested Akio Miura on charges of abandoning a corpse. According to the suspect, the woman died in early February.
Police entered the residence after being informed by the landlord of the residence that the woman had not been seen recently.
