TOCHIGI (TR) – Tochigi Prefectural Police have arrested a 27-year-old man in the stabbing death of his girlfriend in Utsunomiya City, reports TBS News (Dec. 13).
On around December 10, Ryu Sugeno allegedly used a kitchen knife to stab Sakiko Nemoto, 28, in her residence.
Sugeno, who has been charged with murder, admits to the allegations. “She had become cold [toward me],” the suspect is quoted by police.
When family members could not contact Nemoto after December 9, they consulted with police.
At around 7:00 p.m. on December 12, officers entered the residence and found her body lying face-up on a bloodstained bed, according to Fuji News Network (Dec. 13). A knife was also discovered at the scene.
Kanno was later apprehended after he was found inside Nemoto’s vehicle in Motomiya City, Fukushima Prefecture.
