SHIZUOKA (TR) – Shizuoka Prefectural Police are planning to charge a man with murder over the stabbing death of a 32-year-old woman at a convenience store in Makinohara City after he recovers from injuries sustained in a suicide attempt, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 4).
At approximately 1:30 a.m. on Tuesday, a male staff member at the Makinoharahazu branch of Circle K Sunkus alerted police after Saori Sugiyama, 32, entered the store requesting help because her “scary boyfriend appeared in front of my apartment.”
According to the Makinohara Police Station, the man, presumed to be her boyfriend, aged in his 40s, entered the store and stabbed Sugiyama in the head. He then used a knife to self-inflict injuries to his head and abdomen.
Sugiyama was later confirmed dead at a nearby hospital where the man, who remained conscious, is receiving medical attention.
Three knives were found at the crime scene.
In March, Sugiyama visited police after her former boyfriend would not leave the apartment, which is located near the convenience store, despite the end of their relationship. However, police were told one week later that the matter had been resolved.
