SHIGA (TR) – Police said a 2-year-old boy remains in critical condition after he was hit by a car at an intersection in Higashiomi City on Saturday.
The boy was at an intersection when the 37-year-old female driver struck the boy, whose parents said they were unaware he left their nearby home at around 4:30 p.m., according to police, Nippon News Network reports (Oct. 16).
The driver was quoted as telling police they “suddenly noticed a boy was out on the road,” which doesn’t have a pedestrian crossing or signal.
The boy remains unconscious and in critical condition, police said.
