Police took Shota Kamiyama, 25, into custody for the killing of 27-year-old Yuri Harashima, who was stabbed in the breast with a kitchen knife in a parking lot in sometime between between 6:30 p.m. and 7:25 on March 31. She subsequently died from a loss of blood.
Immediately after committing the crime, Kamiyama then attempted suicide. “I stabbed her, and I then I stabbed myself,” the suspect is quoted by police in admitting to the allegations.
After the incident, Kamiyama received treatment at a nearby hospital. With bloodstains found inside the vehicle the pair were using, police arrested Kamiyama for the crime after he was discharged from the hospital.
Kamiyama and Harashima became acquainted at junior high school.
Police are now attempting to determine a motive for the crime.
