TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Thursday announced the bust of a maid cafe in the Roppongi entertainment area for employing a teenage girl, reports the TBS News (Aug. 8).
Officers took Ryuji Shimizu, 41, the manager of Archangels Tokyo, into custody for allegedly employing a 16-year-old girl as a waitress after 10 p.m. — a violation of the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.
The girl, who was attired in a light kimono known as a yukata, received an hourly wage of 1,050 yen per hour.
Shimizu has reportedly admitted to the allegations. “Because we were busy, late work was necessary,” the manager is quoted by police.
Last month, investigators busted a number of restaurants and bars in the Roppongi area for operating illegally.
