TOKYO (TR) – In Tokyo’s red-light district of Kabukicho, the scamming of patrons continues.

Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Thursday announced the bust of an infamous hostess club for overcharging customers, reports TBS News (May 13).

Since March, police have received 106 complaints regarding the practice of bottakuri, or bill padding, at Club Diana.

In February, Yasuyuki Shinozuka, the 46-year-old manager, allegedly lured two male university students, both aged 19, into the club by offering a rate of 3,000 yen per hour and subsequently presented them a bill for 240,000 yen after they only drank juice. Police also arrested employee Yoshihiko Okumura, 37, and one other staff member in the case.

The arrest is at least the third for Shinozuka. He was apprehended in March for the same practice at Club Diana. Last year, police accused him of pulling a similar ruse while employed at club Lumine.
