TOKYO (TR) – In the Kabukicho red-light district of Shinjuku Ward, visitors are continuing to be victims of fraud.

On Wednesday, Tokyo Metropolitan Police announced the bust of yet another hostess club for overcharging customers, reports TBS News (Mar. 16).

Since July of last year, police have received 80 complaints regarding the practice of bottakuri, or bill padding, at Club Diana. The total damage accrued by the victims is estimated to be 12 million yen.

On February 23, Yasuyuki Shinozuka, the 45-year-old manager, allegedly lured two male customers into the club by offering a rate of 3,000 yen per hour and subsequently charged them a much higher than expected amount.

Shinozuka was previously arrested last year while employed at club Lumine. In a similar ruse, two male customers were presented a bill for 240,000 yen after one hour of service.

Since May of last year, police have busted roughly 30 clubs in Kabukicho for bottakuri.
