KAGOSHIMA (TR) – One day after the discovery of the body of a 32-year-old woman inside an apartment, Kagoshima Prefectural Police arrested the victim’s boyfriend on an unrelated charge while they pursue a murder investigation, reports Nippon News Network (April 6).
On Saturday evening, the body of Yukari Kawano, who was employed as a “snack” hostess, was found face-up on a futon in the first floor apartment of her boyfriend’s older brother in Kanoya City.
The victim, who was attired in a nightgown, had been stabbed once in the chest. Kagoshima police soon after launched a murder investigation.
According to the results of an autopsy released on Monday, Kawano died due to shock from loss of blood.
After the discovery of Kawano’s body, her boyfriend, 40, was involved in an automobile accident in Kanoya. Kagoshima police subsequently arrested him on Sunday morning on charges of drunken driving.
Police have confirmed that Kawano’s boyfriend was present at the home on the morning of the day that her body was discovered. Police are now attempting to determine if her boyfriend played a role in her murder.
