NAGANO (TR) – A land ministry staffer was arrested for allegedly bashing a stranger’s car with a golf club at a parking lot in Nagano City, reports Nippon News Network (April 2).

Nagano Prefectural Police arrested Makoto Saito, 51, of the Ministry of Land, Infrastructure, Transport and Tourism on suspicion of criminal damage to property for smashing the car with the club at around 1:30 p.m. on Saturday.

Saito admitted to the charges after police tracked him down using accounts from the victim and an eyewitness.

Saito wasn’t on duty at the time, and isn’t acquainted with the owner of the destroyed car, police said, believing the case could be the result of a feud over parking space in the lot.
