HYOGO (TR) – Hyogo Prefectural Police have launched a murder investigation after the discovery of a male corpse inside his apartment in Amagasaki City, reports the Sankei Shimbun (Oct. 15).
At 10:40 a.m. on Thursday, a call came in to emergency services about a man collapsed and bleeding inside the apartment, located on the 11th floor of a building in the Shioe area. Emergency personnel arriving at the scene found the body of Isamu Sogabe, 46, lying face-up in the entrance with stab wounds to the abdomen and face.
Sogabe was confirmed dead at the scene.
The apartment was not locked at the time of the discovery and the interior undisturbed. A murder weapon has not been found.
According to Fuji News Network (Oct. 16), blood stains were discovered in a corridor and near an outer stairwell.
Prior to the incident, two neighbors arrived at the scene after hearing an emergency warning alarm emanating from the unit. One of them, a 72-year-old male, alerted emergency services after finding Sogabe.
Police are now examining security camera footage taken from within the apartment building as a part of the investigation.
