TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police on Monday announced the bust of a popular nightclub in Minato Ward for improper licensing, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 21).
At approximately 2:00 a.m. on Sunday morning, officers entered Bar Muse, located in the Nishi Azabu district, and arrested manager Yuki Takano, 37, a DJ and two other suspects for allegedly allowing dancing without a license in accordance with the Law Regulating Adult Entertainment Businesses.
At the time of the raid, about 600 customers were inside the club, of which approximately 100 were on the dance floor.
The Yomiuri Shimbun (Oct. 21) speculates that the motivation for the raid may have been a new entrance policy. The club had been requiring that identification and business cards be shown at the entrance, with customers being required to prove that they were between the ages of 24 and 39.
An employee told police that the club had come under scrutiny of law enforcement. “Police had been concerned about minors entering the club,” said the employee. “The policy was to prevent investigators from slipping inside (undetected).”
Bar Muse has generated 340 million yen in revenue over the past year, according to Sports Nippon (Oct. 21).
