IBARAKI (TR) – Four bodies were found in a minivan at a campsite in Ishioka City on Saturday in what appears to be a group suicide, reports Nippon News Network (April 2).
At around 11 a.m., a worker patrolling the campsite for vehicles alerted Ibaraki Prefectural Police, saying that “there’s four people in a car that won’t respond.”
Responding officers discovered the bodies of three men and a woman inside the minivan parked on a parking lot on the grounds.
The windows of the minivan were sealed with tape and a portable clay stove with used charcoal and briquettes were inside.
Three notes, whose contents hinted at suicide, were also found in the vehicle, suggesting a group suicide via asphyxiation, police said.
They persons were later confirmed to be from Tokyo and Kanagawa and Chiba prefectures.
