Hokkaido cops: Elderly man claims corpse found in car is daughter

HOKKAIDO (TR) – Hokkaido Prefectural Police plan to arrest an elderly man after the body of what is believed to be his daughter was found inside his vehicle in Sapporo, reports the Hokkaido Shimbun (Mar. 5).

At approximately 4:00 a.m on Saturday, officers from the Sapporo Nishi Police Station discovered the body of the woman, aged in her 40s, lying down inside his vehicle in a parking lot of the Asahi Plaza Miyanomori apartment complex, located in Chuo Ward.

The body did not exhibit any external wounds.

About one hour earlier, the man, aged in his 80s, arrived at the station and told officers that he had killed his daughter. He then directed them to the parking lot.

Police are now working to confirm the identity of the body and determine the cause of death.

Police are planning to arrest the man on charges of abandoning a corpse. He could also face murder charges.

Update: Police have arrested Tetsuhiro Kamada, 81, for abandoning the body of his daughter, 43-year-old Rinko, reports the Mainichi Shimbun (Mar. 5).
