Gravure idol Mitsu Dan turns essayist

TOKYO (TR) – The hottest gravure idol in Japan, Mitsu Dan, last week released a book of essays titled “Taste of Honey” — another chapter in the pin-up idol’s rising celebrity.

At a special Valentine’s Day event held in the Akihabara district, the 32-year-old star appeared on the stage dressed in very revealing pink and black lingerie. In addition to signed copies of the book, photographs, condoms, and chocolate were available to the 200 male and female attendees, all of whom were required to be over 18 years of age.

Known for her sharp tongue, Dan did not disappoint. “A woman is happy when she receives underwear,” said Dan. “I think there are various ways for enjoyment. Do not be shy when given this opportunity, hold that underwear tight in your hands.”

“Taste of Honey,” published by Shogakukan, hit store shelves the day before. In the book’s 148 pages, Dan confesses to lesbian activities on three occasions and describes her initial interest in SM.

Dan’s rise to super stardom began in earnest last November with the release of her film debut. The SM flick “Be My Slave” finds her starring as a seemingly conservative office lady at a publishing firm who befriends a new male employee in very many more ways than one.

She made her first major appearance in the gravure biz in the pages of weekly tabloid Spa! in March of 2010. Her previous work was not nearly as erotic. After being trained as an English teacher, she earned a qualification in cooking. She also studied to be an undertaker.

Described by weekly tabloid Shukan Post as the “sensuality queen,” Dan was suggested by Shukan Jitsuwa (Nov. 8) as being the second coming of Aya Sugimoto, the veteran erotic star who has a role in “Be My Slave.”

Last year, she released two DVDs titled “Game of Lust” and a third installation in her “Nymphomania” series. A photo collection titled “Be My Slave” by Kadokawa Publishing hit store shelves in October.

When asked about her ideal Valentine date, Dan said it would be cooking at home with her boyfriend, which happened two years ago, but presently she is single. “There have been a lot of really great people (I’ve met) in the past two or three months, but I’ve got no time,” she said.
