Fukuoka cops nab professor for sneaking onto woman’s property

FUKUOKA (TR) – A professor was arrested for trespassing on the grounds of a woman’s home, Fukuoka police said on Tuesday.

Fukuoka Prefectural Police arrested Yoshichika Kawaguchi, 48, a professor at the University of Occupational and Environmental Health, Japan in Kitakyushu City, on suspicion of trespassing on residential property, the Asahi Shimbun reports (May 24).

Kawaguchi admitted to the charges, telling police he “knew a young woman was living there, and I wanted to take a look inside.”

According to Munakata Police Station, Kawaguchi is suspected of sneaking into the residential yard of a woman in her 20s at around midnight in Fukutsu City. The suspect and the woman are said to not know each other.

The university said the incident is “truly regrettable. We will strictly mete out punishment after the facts are investigated.”
