FUKUOKA (TR) – An employee of Koga City has been arrested for allegedly stealing a car from outside a convenience store, reports TV Asahi (Apr. 27).
At around 12:40 a.m. on April 4, Yukinori Mizuno, a 53-year-old manager in a planning section, allegedly stole the car from a parking lot of a 7-Eleven, located in the Kazurugaoka area of the same city, after its owner, a 46-year-old male company employee, left it running to go inside.
Mizuno, who has been charged with theft, denies the charges. “I have no recollection whatsoever because I was drunk,” the suspect is quoted by the Kasuya Police Station.
The matter came to light two days later after the manager of a parking lot in front of Mizuno’s residence alerted police after finding the vehicle parked in the lot, located three kilometers away from the convenience store, according to the Asahi Shimbun (Apr. 27).
A representative from the office of Koga City said the facts of the case were being confirmed. “We plan to deal with the case appropriately,” the representative said.
