TOKYO (TR) – Prosecutors Office have decided not to indict three male Brazilian nationals over an attempted smash-and-grab incident at a jewelry store in Sano City earlier this year, reports TV Asahi (Dec. 2).
In June, the three suspects allegedly crashed a car into the jewelry store in Sano in an attempt to steal watches and other items worth approximately 8 million yen.
On Tuesday, the Tokyo District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to indict the three men, citing insufficient evidence.
Police said previously that the three are suspected of communicating via the highly confidential communication app Signal to receive instructions from another individual for carrying out the crime.
One suspect said upon his arrest, “I was in debt and accepted the offer on the promise of a reward.”
