Both victims in Shizuoka stabbing confirmed dead: police

SHIZUOKA (TR) – Both victims in a stabbing at a bar in Hamamatsu City early Sunday have been confirmed dead, police said, reports Fuji News Network (July 7).

At around 1:00 a.m., Ichiro Yamashita, 41, allegedly used a knife to stab the female manager, 27-year-old Tomoka Takeuchi, in the back and other parts of her body.

Also stabbed was 26-year-old employee Rin Ito.

Both Takeuchi and Ito were unconscious upon transport to a hospital. Several hours later, they were both confirmed dead.

Upon his arrest on suspicion of attempted murder over the stabbing of Takeuchi, Yamashita, who lives in Fukuroi City, admitted to the allegations.

Police have since changed the charge to murder. Yamashita also admitted to stabbing Ito.

According to police, the suspect entered the bar with two curved kukri knives with 20-centimeter-long blades in each hand and stabbed the two women one after the other.

Police later learned that Yamashita had brought Ito, who was not working that day, to the bar in his car just before the incident.

Ito’s father told the network: “I hadn’t heard anything about the trouble at all. I haven’t been able to process my feelings.”
