TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police have arrested an American man who is suspected of driving a stolen truck involved in a series of hit-and-run incidents over the weekend, reports TBS News (Feb. 16).
According to police, the unnamed American, aged in his 40, was driving the truck, which was stolen from Chiyoda Ward, on February 14.
That truck was involved a series of hit-and-run incidents in Bunkyo and Taito wards and other locations. There were no injuries in any of the incidents.
Upon his arrest on suspicion of hit-and-run, the American denied the allegations. “I was hallucinating,” he told police.
After the incidents, the American abandoned the truck in Edogawa and fled on foot. He was later apprehended at a nearby convenience store.
Tokyo police had been questioning the man up until his arrest on Tuesday.
