KANAGAWA (TR) – The Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office decided this week not to prosecute a 27-year-old American man who had been arrested for assault — including punching a male security guard — while intoxicated, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 22).
On September 22, the American is suspected of getting into a dispute with another attendee while intoxicated at the Yokohama Octoberfest and punching a security guard who intervened to stop the altercation. No injuries to the security guard were reported.
The Yokohama District Public Prosecutors Office decided not to prosecute the man as of October 9.
Regarding the reason for the decision, the office stated, “We decided not to prosecute based on the content of relevant evidence, including the circumstances following the incident.”
Although the American briefly left the scene after the incident, he was apprehended by police officers upon his return. He denied the allegations during police questioning.
