AKITA (TR) – Akita Prefectural Police have arrested a 42-year-old woman for leaving a body likely that of an infant at her home in Akita City, reports TV Asahi (Jan. 14).
Around 2020, Toshiko Sato, of no known occupation, is suspected of abandoning the body in a storage shed on the grounds of the apartment.
The gender of the infant is unknown. The infant is believed to have been dead for some time.
Sato, who lives alone, reported the body to police herself on Sunday. During questioning on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, she admitted to the charges, police said.
Police are currently investigating her relationship to the infant and the circumstances that led to the incident.
