AICHI (TR) – Aichi Prefectural Police have arrested a 58-year-old unemployed man after he allegedly left his father’s dead body inside their Okazaki City home for weeks, reports Nagoya TV (Oct. 5).
Seiji Ogawa is accused of ignoring the remains of the elderly man, with whom he lived, leaving the body to sit inside their residence after the man passed away around early last month.
The grim discovery was made on the morning of the 4th. At approximately 10:00 a.m., Ogawa placed a call to the 119 emergency number, telling the dispatcher, “My father isn’t moving. I think he is probably dead.”
Responding police officers arrived at the residence and found the deceased man lying on a sofa in the living room.
During police questioning on suspicion of abandoning a corpse, Ogawa admitted to the allegations of corpse abandonment. “There is no mistake about what I did,” he reportedly told investigators.
Police believe the deceased is Ogawa’s father and are continuing to investigate the exact cause of death and the circumstances surrounding the incident.
