¥10,000 notes scattered in Edogawa street before fire breaks out, corpse found

TOKYO (TR) – Tokyo Metropolitan Police launched an investigation after a body was found after a fire broke out in a house in Edogawa Ward on Wednesday, reports TBS News (Mar. 25).

According to police, bank notes had been scattered near the residence in the Chuo area as the couple living inside engaged in a dispute shortly before the fire.

At around 12:45 p.m., a fire broke out in a two-story house in the Chuo area, burning 35 square meters of the second floor.

According to police, an 80-year-old woman suffered unspecified injuries. As well, a body believed to be that of her husband was found in the ruins of the blaze.

Police said that a large number of 10,000 yen bills had been scattered on the street near the house as couple argued before the fire started.

The location is a residential area 1.5 kilometers southeast of JR Shin-Koiwa Station.
