TOKYO (TR) – Former adult video (AV) actress Nana Nanami, 37, has broken her silence to denounce a vile internet hoax that falsely claimed she had an incestuous relationship with her own father.
In a recent tell-all interview with Spa! (July 8), Nanami, who debuted in the adult industry in 2007 before retiring in 2011 to pursue mainstream entertainment, opened up about the darker side of internet fame and the extreme lengths trolls went to defame her family.
According to the former actress, a doctored image of a 2009 magazine interview began circulating online around 2011. The fake article contained fabricated quotes stating that Nanami’s “first sexual experience was with her father.”
“It was a terribly malicious hoax,” an outraged Nanami said. “Someone made a collage using a real interview. Information spread that my first time was with my dad. How could that possibly be true? Why would people swallow such a lie?”
The defamation was so widespread that mainstream media outlets contacted her seeking interviews about the fabricated incest.
Nanami used the opportunity to set the record straight and clear her family’s name. Because she was underage when she was scouted on the streets of Tokyo, she required parental consent to sign her adult video contract. While her mother was strictly opposed, she said her father was incredibly supportive of her independence.
“I want to say clearly right here: that was a massive lie,” she stated. “My father is a truly, truly gentle person. Please, I beg you, let this be the opportunity to restore my father’s honor.”

Promotional model
Prior to her AV debut, Nanami had worked as a promotional model for a major college preparatory school while secretly attending a bridal college in Tokyo. She claims she entered the adult industry seeking a path into the “glittering world” of show business, despite having no prior acting experience and leading an incredibly “straight-laced” private life.
She carved out a successful four-year career by focusing on drama-heavy, scripted adult films, which allowed her to distance herself from the “guilt and immorality” of the physical acts by treating them strictly as acting performances.
Following her 2011 retirement from the AV industry, Nanami transitioned into mainstream television, making regular appearances on popular variety shows such as Tamori Club.
“I didn’t want to lie anymore’
However, the pressure of the entertainment industry forced her to keep her personal life firmly under wraps. Nanami secretly married in 2018, keeping her husband hidden from the public after industry insiders warned her that announcing the marriage would destroy the fantasy for her fans and be a selfish display of “ego.”
She finally came clean in February 2021, announcing both her marriage and her first pregnancy simultaneously — despite being only two weeks pregnant at the time.
“I just didn’t want to lie to my fans anymore,” she explained.
Nanami, who now frequently brings her 4-year-old daughter to fan events, says she has no regrets about her unorthodox career path as she approaches her 20th anniversary in show business.
“I’ve been able to do the work I wanted to do, and every little job has been fun,” she said. “I feel like I’m endlessly living in bonus time.”
