Youth held over robbery of woman at Takasaki hotel

GUNMA (TR) – Gunma Prefectural Police on Sunday arrested a 17-year-old boy living in Takasaki City over the alleged robbery of a woman at a hotel in the city three days before.

Police are currently seeking the whereabouts of two other individuals who participated in the crime, reports NHK (Nov. 24).

At just after 11:00 p.m. on November 21, the trio broke into the room of the woman, 41, and covered her mouth. “Give me your money or we’ll kill you,” one of the perpetrators threatened.

After stealing her two mobile phones from her, they fled the scene. The woman was not injured, police said.

After the incident, security camera footage showed the trio fleeing in the direction of JR Takasaki Station

After an analysis of the footage, the boy surfaced as a person of interest in the case. He was arrested on Sunday morning on suspicion of robbery.

Police have not revealed whether he admits to the crime, citing that such information would hinder their investigation.
