Motohiro Narumi, 43, was taken into custody by officers of the Hikarigaoka Station of the Tokyo Metropolitan Police for stabbing the president of a residential facilities company in the back and chest with a kitchen knife at the suspect’s residence in a public housing facility in Nerima Ward.
Narumi denies the charges surrounding the incident, which occurred at around 7:45 p.m. on January 1. “I was drunk and the stabbing was involuntary,” the gang member is quoted by police.
The victim’s injuries are expected to require one month to heal.
According to police, the company president had visited Narumi as a part of a customary aisatsu greeting that occurs after the turn of the New Year. Investigators are examining the reason behind the stabbing.
