IBARAKI (TR) – Ibaraki Prefectural Police are investigating a shooting incident at an office of an organized crime group in Tsukuba City, reports TV Asahi (May 10).
At about midnight on Monday, police received a report about gunshots heard near an office of the Matsuba-kai, located in the Sasagi area. Officers arriving at the scene found at least seven bullet holes in an iron entrance gate.
At the time of the incident, two gang members were inside the premises but there were no injuries.
On May 10, a shooting took place at another office of the Matsuba-kai in Tsuchiura City. Police are investigating whether the two incidents are connected.
The office is located about four kilometers from the city center of Tsukuba.
The incident will not have an impact on schedule of the Science and Technology Ministers’ Meeting, which extends through May 17, that is being held as a part of the G7 Summit, according to NHK (May 16).
