Woman fatally stabbed at Nishitokyo ‘snack’ consulted with police over domestic violence in past

TOKYO (TR) – A woman fatally stabbed at her bar in Nishitokyo City on Tuesday had previously consulted with Tokyo Metropolitan Police about domestic violence by her former husband several times, reports Fuji News Network (Mar. 26).

At just after 4:00 a.m. on Tuesday, police working off a tip from a neighboring business found Tomomi Tokuyama, 37, and her former husband, aged in his 40s, collapsed inside bar Kasumi.

The two had multiple stab wounds on their bodies. Tokuyama was confirmed dead at the scene. The man had cuts and other wounds on his body, police said previously.

A knife believed to have been used to stab both persons was found at the scene.

Police entered the bar using a duplicate key from the management company. Tokuyama, who had been stabbed in a dozen places on her body, including her face, was found collapsed on her back behind the bar counter.

Her former husband, who had sustained stab wounds to his neck, was found unconscious on the other side of the counter.

A blood-stained knife believed to have been used to stab both persons was found at the scene.

Crashed his car

Earlier this month, Tokuyama’s former husband was released after a court gave him a suspended prison term. Last May, he crashed his car into the building where the bar was located and punched Tokuyama, which led to his arrest for assault and other charges.

About one year ago, Tokuyama consulted police several times about domestic violence by her then husband. They have since divorced.

Police believe Tokuyama’s former husband attempted suicide after stabbing her with the knife. They plan question him about the incident once her recovers from his injuries.
