GIFU (TR) – Gifu Prefectural Police have arrested a 51-year-old man after a corpse likely that of his father was found in their residence in Mino City, reports the Gifu Shimbun (April 18).
Police did not reveal whether Yukihiro Nakamura, a company employee, admits to the allegations of abandoning a corpse.
On Friday morning, the decayed corpse was found stretched out on a futon inside a room of the two-floor residence by Nakamura’s brother.
Based on the stage of decay, the person had been dead for an extended period, police said.
Nakamura shares the residence with his 84-year-old mother. After the discovery, the suspect fled before the arrival of police. However, officers found him in a nearby park a few hours later.
The brother arrived at the residence after not being able to contact his mother.
Police are now seeking to confirm the identity of the body.
