Ex-Tokyo city councilman in custody over alleged rapes of male acquaintances accused in 3 more cases

TOKYO (TR) – A former Fuchu City councilman in custody over the alleged drugging and sexual assault of five acquaintances has been arrested for three other cases, police said.

In the latest allegations, Ryuichi Akita is alleged to have sexually assaulted two drunk men, both aged in their 20s, at his then residence in Suginami Ward between 2017 and 2019.

The third case, involving a teenage boy, took place at the same residence over that two-year period. reports the Sankei Shimbun (Feb. 3).

At the time, Akita was a university student. “I will remain silent on everything,” the suspect told police in commenting on allegations of quasi-forced obscenity.

On November 6, police first arrested Akita for allegedly giving sleeping pills to a man in his 20s, whom he met at a local event, and then committing indecent acts against him.

During the course of the latter investigation, more than 100 obscene videos were found on Akita’s seized smartphone. It was through these videos that police have identified victims.

Later in November, police further accused Akita over the alleged sexual assaults of two other men in their 20s about three years ago. Last month, the suspect was arrested for a third time over two cases involving another man in his 20s and another teenage boy.
