HONG KONG (TR) – As a part of crackdown on an international prostitution ring featuring current and former adult video (AV) actresses from Japan, Hong Kong police last week announced the arrest of 35 persons, including star Japanese AV actress Miru.
According to the Hong Kong newspaper Ming Pao on November 21, the arrests were the result of a joint operation that involved law enforcement in Japan, Singapore and Macau.
The ring made AV actresses from Japan available for sexual encounters with fans in Asia. The price — so-called “meat money” — reached as high as 150,000 HK dollars (approximately 3 million yen), police said. (Normally, the rate for sex is between a few thousand and tens of thousands of HK dollars.)
The group utilized the anonymous app Telegram to recruit customers. Over the course of a year, sales reached approximately 20 million HK dollars (approximately 400 million yen), with about half going to the prostitutes.
According to the newspaper, three current and former Japanese AV actresses were arrested in Singapore, with one of them being 25-year-old Miru.
“Two Angels in Paradise”
Miru made her debut as an exclusive actress for label S1 in 2018 at the age of 19. She is a rising star in Japan’s AV industry. In 2019, she was named “Best New Actress” at an annual event held by distributor FANZA.
Miru came to Hong Kong for a meet-and-greet with fellow actress Hikari Aozora, who was not mentioned by Hong Kong police as a suspect, under the theme “Two Angels in Paradise” in September. The organizer of the event held a party in a luxury glass boat and cruise Victoria Harbor to allow for fans interact.
Also arrested was former actress Asamiya Wakana, who technically debuted under the name “Ayaka Nishimura” in 2021. She disappeared from the industry after releasing her last set of works in October 2022.
