Taiwanese woman arrested with knife after fellow hotel guest found dead in Yamanashi

YAMANASHI (TR) – Yamanashi Prefectural Police have arrested a 27-year-old Taiwanese woman on a weapons charge after another female guest was found dead with visible trauma inside a hotel in the Mount Fuji resort town of Fujikawaguchiko, reports TV Asahi (Oct. 20).

Shortly after 8:00 a.m. on Monday, emergency services received a call from the hotel reporting an “unconscious woman.” Upon arriving at the guest room, responders discovered a woman in her 30s deceased with external injuries.

During the ensuing investigation at the property, police arrested Taiwanese national Yang Ming-han for the illegal possession of a bladed weapon. Yang was found carrying a kitchen knife with a blade measuring approximately 12 centimeters.

Upon her arrest on suspicion of violating the Swords and Firearms Control Law, Yang admitted to the allegations, telling investigators, “It is a fact that I had a knife.”

Police confirmed that both women were guests staying at the hotel. Investigators are currently questioning Yang, operating under the suspicion that she knows the circumstances surrounding the victim’s fatal injuries.
