SAITAMA (TR) – Saitama Prefectural Police have arrested a 23-year-old former childcare worker on suspicion of sexually assaulting a young boy during an overnight nature camp last summer, reports Jiji Press (Oct. 1).
Hiroto Yuki, a resident of Tokorozawa City, Saitama Prefecture, was arrested and sent to prosecutors on suspicion of non-consensual sexual intercourse.
According to police, Yuki was participating as a volunteer at a nature experience camp in the village of Hakuba, Nagano Prefecture. On August 1 of last year, he allegedly sexually assaulted an elementary school boy while the child was sleeping. The following day, he is accused of committing further indecent acts, including inappropriately touching the boy. In both instances, Yuki used his smartphone to film the assaults.

During police questioning, Yuki admitted to the allegations, telling investigators, “There is no mistake.”
The crimes came to light during a separate police investigation into another man arrested for secretly filming a different child. Investigators discovered that the man had been sharing illicit videos with Yuki via social media, which led to Yuki’s arrest.
Police have confiscated Yuki’s smartphone and discovered more than 1,000 similar videos saved on the device. Investigators are currently looking into other potential crimes, believing there are likely numerous other victims.
